In the games, it's easier to see the relationship between the two is actually closer than you think. It really is When They Cry 3. I wish more people realize that it does continue, just on a different layer than what's on the surface.

And from what I've seen, more people who have played through Umineko says it was better than Higurashi. I think between the fail of the anime, and the misunderstanding of how the two relate turns people off from it before they give it a chance. I<3 WTC

@shymyn ummmm... Higurashi was first, the first game release was in 2002 and the anime in 2006, Umineko's first game released in 2007 and the anime in 2009. If you're talking about the story timeline, the events in Higurashi come before Umineko, Higurashi takes place in 1983 and Umineko takes place in 1986.
