http://TheBadBackGuy.net The biggest mistake I made on my quest for neck pain, back pain, and sciatic nerve pain relief was the spinal cord stimulator! For pain relief the spinal cord stimulator was a huge disappointment! Before going down this road, please contact me and do your research, there are better methods.

  • Which stimulator did you try? I had a Medtronic unit in for four years, had to have the stimulation wire moved and ultimately had the unit REmoved entirely. Boston Scientific has a newer "model," for lack of a better term, which is more effective, I'm told, but have been reticent about trying so far.

I've had 8 major spinal surgeries from C2-3 all the way down to L5-S1, each with only minimal and temporary relief.

  • @arspraestigium1 It was a Medtronic device. As far as being implanted by a qualified physician? Their rep was in the operating room with my physician & others. You could've plastered the walls with the degrees! The result? UTTER MISERY before & after! I had this thing in my body, vibrating all the time or it was entirely useless. It caused a massive infection that spread throughout my entire body, almost killing me. It resulted in my immune system shutting down & more serious illness! Horrible!

  • My pain doctor is pushing this for me (I have RSD in my foot and leg and back pain), and my gut tells me 'run!' It freaks me out to think of this thing inside me, and I didn't know about the leads permanently coming out of my body and having to recharge the batteries every day. Any time I bring up questions, he shoots me down, and I really do feel like I'm getting a sales pitch! I want to keep trying meds, PT, tens unit, massage therapy, etc. Thanks so much. You saved me from this hell!

  • @emmazoey2 I'm glad I could help! It really is a disaster waiting to happen. Do some people get relief? Sure! But then some people get relief from placebos! I gotta tell you, having that thing in my body, buzzing all the time, just about drove me nuts! So, you not only have the pain to deal with, you have the additional irritant of that buzzing! Not cool! Good luck to you! I am pleased the video has helped you. John

  • I hear ya, John. I had the trial which went ok, then permanent implant which was unsuccessful and then a revision with a laminotomy. The permanent implant never worked like the trial did and now I'm stuck with 3 ugly scars on my back and I'm in worse pain than before the surgeries. IMHO, these SCS reps are like used car salesmen. Wished I'd never had mine done.

  • @cinderella6251 You wouldn't believe the ugly attacks I get for this video! The data does not lie and the risks are too great! Whenever you see DEATH as a possible side effect...pass! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Many have with similar or worse consequences! I wish you good health and all the best from this point forward! Never give up! If you work at it, it does get better! Back pain and even Failed Back Syndrome do not have to be life (death) sentences! God bless you! John

  • You are right and Hulk Hogan was fooled by the doctors to do this.Oh,he needs to get help.God help Hogan.

  • I began the stim trial on Fri and by Sat afternoon, my right calf muscle was sore, the next morning, both legs were in so much pain that i could barely walk. I called Mon morning and the doc had me come in and the medtronics guy reprogrammed the unit. It felt much better in my lower back and right hip, and my sciatica didn't feel as bad.I thought I had a winner this time--until last night when I could barely walk. Today was worse & it was hard to move my legs-had it removed today. help!

  • Hi - I did the trial and it took a lot of my lower back pain away. I thought I was going to go for the permanent surgery, but 2 days before my trial ended, I read more about the possible risks, and it really worried me. My gut told me "NO! Don't do it!". I've had back surgeries before so it's not surgery that I'm scared of. I'm scared of making the choice to put wires near my spine for the next 20 years or so. I had to have my previous surgeries, but this one would be elective. Scary stuff.

  • Well, I had the trial implanted 2 days ago and strangely enough, I haven't needed to turn it on. I have no pain where I previously had a lot of pain all the time.

  • @JohnZajaros Why can you never have an MRI after receiving the stimulator?

  • I thank you for posting your video. I was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS IN 2009. After failing out of all forms of treatment to relieve the pain I was feeling I decided to go ahead with the spinal cord stimulator implant. At first the stimulator worked wonderfully. A few short months later it was a totally different story once I started to become active in the United States Army again I started having back pain where there was none before. It seemed to help with the pain in my legs at first but ...

  • i just left the docs he,s sayin to do spine cord stim but before i got operated on i did steal costruction----coal mines and power plants im in great pain week in the leg tryin to just sleep has stopped. do u have to turn the stimulater on when the pain comes or what??? from what u say u still have pain u carry the remote with at all times??

  • I have a feeling that when I go to my next app't in a month and decline this surgery, my Dr.will not be pleased. They need to remember that WE are in charge of our own bodies and have the right to refuse treatments that we do not feel are right for us.You don't see any of them who have personally experienced this surgery and what it does to your body.John,by sticking your neck out and giving witness to your experience, you helped me make the right decision.Hard to understand the angry responses:/
