It's not ironic it is deliberate. Mac uses a lot of songs with socialistic ideals because they realize that their supporters, hip left leaning college students, will enjoy the music. Also them using this song gives the impression that the company shares these ideals, even though it doesn't, to make their supporters more comfortable about their material desires.
