The most common diseases afflicting the world's poorest people are also the most unknown - neglected tropical diseases. At the 2006 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting, scientist Peter Hotez helped launch an organization to develop low-cost medications to treat these deadly illnesses. Dr. Hotez credits CGI and the support of President Clinton for transforming the fight against this urgent global health challenge.
