http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Home-and-Studio-Recording/Digital-Multi-Track-Re... This little box of tricks has quite a few neat features under its hood ... The Roland V-Studio 20 is a hardware based recording interface that integrates with Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks software to allow up to 32 tracks of recorded music. It's difficult to know where to start with this product as it does so much ... Well let me start by suggesting who this product is aimed at ... Roland will say everyone of course but in fact the V-studio 20 leans towards the guitarist/bassist who is familiar with digital Porta-studio type hard disk recorders but who are keen to spread their wings to incorporate a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) into their project ...

The V-Studio 20 does in fact have a hard disk based recording system built in but it is far more than just that, the faders on the main control surface can be used to control various assignable parameters and this little box also comes with 36 of the best Boss guitar effects and 50 pre-sets including the COSM processing sounds made famous by Boss. There are 4 groups of 8 tracks for recording onto the hard disk, however the unit also comes with 1Gb of loops, songs and backing tracks to play along to ...

Cakewalk Guitar Tracks production software accompanies the package and there's a software effects editor to amend and customise some of the Boss guitar effects, built-in to the chassis of the box are two condenser microphones (L/R) and it's also possible to add a traditional XLR connected microphone via an interface on the side of the unit that includes +48v Phantom Power for those models of microphone that have this requirement. There's also a guitar/bass tuner built-in, stereo inputs and outputs, a line input for your guitar/bass, a USB port to hook the unit to your PC or Mac and inputs for Footswitch and Expression pedals.

When you load-up and then open-up the Cakewalk Guitar Tracks software, you'll notice that the main input page looks remarkably like the V-Studio 20 with almost exactly the same lay-out. This familiarity is comforting and means that the software doesn't seem as daunting for beginners and novices who are new to DAW software. For those who need a little instruction there are on-line video demonstrations which can be found at the Cakewalk website ...

  • what if i wanna conect this to FL.studio...? it it posible?

  • @BlindLoveGuitarist yes i look this up mac will work with it and the price not to bad only 229.00

  • Got very confused when I linked the Singer's mouth movement to the narrater's voice...

  • @LazyGamerMike I've got one of these. I think it's good for beginners to intermediate. It really cuts down on all the gear, and is fairly easy to use. It's not great for vocals in my opinion, but the guitar recording quality is really quite nice for an affordable piece of equipment. It depends on what you're aiming at, really. The v-studio is a good starting point for solo musos, but I wouldn't rate it as something that a band with professional aspirations would rely upon.

  • would this be a good buy for someone just starting to record music or should start somewhere else?

  • yeah kill the Singer. LOL

  • omfg worst singing ever

  • is he compatible with mac???

  • this is kinda like line 6 line of product (podstudio), but it come with a mixer, which is a plus~
