I can't help but think that there might be solar cells on the bottom of the top device that are being powered by the lights on top of the bottom device.

Hey I want to know the schematic, and about inductors what is the gauge of wire, length of wire and inductance.. can you please elaborate more about the whole circuit that would be great cuz I am also working on the same project.

nope, no solar cells :)
the red lights just show that the power supply works.
The main components are: 2 power supplys, one XR2206 (to create a high frequency sine wave), one TDA2030A (to amplify the power) and of course the coils.
A full tutorial with more descriptions will follow.
