The Shinden had small chances in this kind of dogfight, because of its shape, which guaranted it not such good manuverability like MiG-3 (especially MiG-3U like this on the movie). Of course MiG-3 also was an interceptor, but it had better characteristics at low speed. J7W1 would win this fight when it would climb very fast and use B&Z tactic.

@zioMav89 It can fly, its quite the wonderful plane, it can be downloaded from damawo(dot)blog99(dot)fc2(dot)com along with a J4M1 and a Ki-98

That was a neat dog fight. Good scissors fight while climbing and diving. Do you know why the Shinden pilot was never able to go on the offensive? Lower turn rate? Inferior climb rate or top speed?

@colddrake80 Why thank you! I think its just the AI flying the shinden (I'm fairly sure i set it to ace) might not have been able to take full advantage of the aircraft
