The whole thing started off as a goof based on National Novel Writing Month, the challenge of which is to try to write an entire novel during the month November. Not everyone can commit to an endeavor of such magnitude, though, and so National Blog Posting Month was born. However, after doing a November NaBlo for a couple of years in a row it seemed that a lot of people had found their momentum and wanted to keep going into December and beyond. So now NaBloPoMo is something you can drop into any month of the year, though November is still the biggest month, and is the only month when members donate prizes that are then given out randomly to other members who posted every day in November... http://www.nablopomo.com/faq

well then Navlopomo was born -National Videoblog Posting Month-..then it was shorten to VLOMO...and videobloggers from all over the globe participate...we are still ON...join us

  • in those times I was the only one in my entire company with a background in foreign language education and also the only latino...working undercovered as a "gringo" ;0))) .. the rest of my friends were from UK,USA,Auzzieland,New Zealand and Ireland..anyway I had a good time and I was respected...but I was missing my latino roots

  • in my case I was hired because of my 15-20 years rich experience in EFL-ESL classrooms and cause I am a professor... I look european..a bit gringo...but still my name was a problem and also my homeland...

  • thanks, they did it because that´s part of the EFL ESL bizz ... it is everywhere..also in Peru if you look whitey ..kinda european, caucasian, gringo look ...you can easily get a job as a foreign language teacher ... I saw how in my own country really good EFL teachers are discriminated just because of the color of their skin ...

  • Great story. It's completely ridiculous they couldn't just consider letting you tell your students the truth, that Juan is not just a Chinese name, and that people can learn English even when it's not the primary language of their homeland. DUH!
