Takeoff at VPS (Northwest Florida Regional Airport) in a US Airways CRJ-700. Eglin AFB shares its runways with VPS. A few minutes into flight, the pilot pulled back on the throttle some, and we stayed at a low altitude for a good few minutes, and then he gave throttle again and we climbed to cruising altitide.

  • Is that a road at 0:32?

  • @ndyankee7 Yeah. Eglin AFB is huge, lots of service roads near the runway

  • Holy crap they actually rolled over the cables at high speed? That is very risky. My airline's procedure is to taxi down past the cable, then advance the power for takeoff. Much less risk of damage to the landing gear that way

  • @griffith211 Yeah I was actually surprised the pilot did that. I've flown out of here quite a few times, and this is one of the only times they did that. Maybe they were in a hurry, although we were on time.
