After hearing this piece on the radio, I went to the internet to figure out the title and composer, and this has been basically all I've been listening to for the past couple weeks. I then decided to download a pdf of the original piano sheets, and add my own interpretation for vibraphone.

Keep in mind, on vibes, unless you can play with a 6-mallet grip, the only chords can be with up to four different tones. So I had to cut short some of the 7th chords because the melody is the most important.

This is NOT a live recording, although it may sound realistic enough to be. I spent a lot of time getting the musicality to sound just right as if someone was playing it live.

I used Sibelius 6 and Virtual Drumline 2.5.

  • Where can I get the sheet music for this? For marimba and/or vibes?

  • @fcmilsweeper9 You can get a copy from me directly! Please send me an email: realdealpeel@gmail.com And it was arranged for vibes but can certainly be performed on marimba.

  • Whoah.. this is so amazing, because for one thing I just love this piece by Satie, and I'm also very very much into the sound of vibraphones. But I've never heard this for vibraphone before! It's exactly as I would've imagined, just great, love it. Thanks a lot for the MP3 too, otherwise I'd be busy recording by now ;-)

  • @Kaschelott No problem!

  • I've always wondered why you haven't done an arrangement of "Amazing Grace". I don't think anyone on earth has done that song justice on solo vibes.

  • @Whoomp12 That's like asking why I didn't do an arrangement of everyone's favorite piece, lol. I doubt I will arrange more than 500 ensembles in my lifetime, so naturally there is a limit to what I can do. Amazing Grace is nice, but I like to arrange things that aren't done too often and this was one of them.

  • @krion363 Thats interesting, I didn't know there were Satie arrangements for vibes already out there! I bet it was beautiful.

  • I just watched my friend play this and No.2 on a vibe and it was amazing. Satie was a genius. Playing it on a vibe gives it so much warmth.

  • How could I get a copy of this solo sheet music? I would like to perform it for my graduate recital.

  • This channel is absolutely amazing
