TABS: http://www.thewizardofshred.com/index/how-to-use-your-reticular-cortex - This is a relatively simple lick that uses tapping and legato technique. Keep your right hand close to the strings, especially those that you don't want to hear ringing out. The lick is in Bb-Major but you can of course use it in any key or scale shape.

  • Do you place your palm slightly on the strings to dampen them a bit? When I practice fast chromatics or plain 2-3 string shred licks, I have problem with noisy strings

  • @lonewolf604 Yes I do. I mute as much as I possibly can with my right hand.

  • do you have any fusion licks that's in the style of guthrie govan?

  • @OldSchoolSkill Thanks!

  • @lonewolf604 With alternate picking, the best way to mute the other strings is with the thumb on your picking hand. It should lightly brush up against the strings lower to the one you're picking on. You can also mute any of the upper strings with your fretting hand when you are playing on lower strings (but it takes a bit of work to get used to it). Claus talks about this in his Ultimate Alternate Picking Training System.

  • I need headphones for that! :)
