@fibes55 Well said! Plus Bonham stated that Carmine Appice was a major influence on him!! Good Times Bad Times is Bonham doing Carmine Appice!!
-
not really but ok
there are new school drummers that play rock just as well you know
-
@Supercow909 So; I'm guessing those Dudes from Godsmack are your kinda drummers.
I seriously hope you didn't vote thumbs down on Carmine's effort. If you knew the mans history you would be singing a different tune. j/k

@beggarhipnotized Hang on a sec while I take one of my Dammitol pills. Purple has always and still is my favourite band and Paicey definitely is one that I mentioned on a previous comment, but the thread Is about Carmine. I was just giving the man his due.
Carmine played plenty of Ballads when he was with Rod the Mod Stewart, and I enjoyed the Carmines drumming immensely. I really don't see much point in saying who is better while playing Ballads. Both men are fine drummers.

@hackysackdude120 Old School is the Only School for Rock.

I am sure there is a better solo of him out there better than this one!!

@Starpass Nobody plays drums on ballads (!!!) like Ian Paice. When I listen to Cozy Powell, Vinnie Appice, Eric Singer or many others, they allways sound pale and plate doing ballads. Carmine is also strong, just listen to Season Of The Witch - Great feeling!

Carmine is awesome! He got very personally groove and his sense of rhytm is amazing. His drumming drives a lot. I like him more then Bonham, but Paicey is the best!
-
Carmine and Bobby Caldwell (who doesnt get brought up as much as he should when discussing great drummers) are probably my biggest influences in drumming.

@Purplemania Deep Purple Mark ll lineup has always been my favourite band. Steve Morse is fantastic but he ain't Ritchie..and Don Airey ain't no Jon Lord. I loved the way he
played the 'Beast'; and Ritchie with his hyper aggressive playing they made a great band.
Carmine has always been one of my favourite drummers; although I enjoy Paicey a lot.
He may not impress you, but he's out-distanced every one of his peers. He's been around since 1967 and people still flock to hear him at concerts & clinics. His contemporaries-Bonham, Moon, Mitchell, Baker, etc. are either dead or burnt to a crisp.

@robertdowney13 Didn't Louie Bellson beat him to the punch on that?
