I went on the Hugh Thompson Show yesterday. This was my first take, asking Thompson and the audience about AT&T's plans to filter the internet.

  • What you did was very important, the issue of companies like AT&T spying on its customers (and passing along information to the government) is being addressed much less than it should be. And addressing it on an AT&T talkshow gets you extra props.

  • Two words: EPIC WIN.

Outstanding work here, Joel. As someone who is EXTREMELY concerned about the implications of AT&T's policies (everyone who uses the internet should be), it's time to put people like Hugh Johnson on the spot. Well done, chap.

  • hmmguys i really feel lonely today anyone wanna chat

  • You rock! This insane move by at&t cannot be permitted, it is a violation, and it is unethical. It is horrifying. Stand up people!

  • Awesome!Joel Johnson you kick ass man.

  • Absolutely, sagecast. Hopefully the public commons spirit, inherent in the concept and history of the internet, will survive the drive for control from elites in corporate boardrooms. The corporate entity sees the net as a dangerously democratic instrument.

  • i lie here he aint my cuz

  • Seeing as how the show hasn't even aired yet (nor have any of the other shows they taped that day), I can't see how you could claim that anything has been cut/censored/removed/whatever.

  • AT&T tries so hard to be hip and Web savvy, but they'll never succeed as long as they think the Internet is something to be controlled from the top down. The voice from the control room at the close of this segment is a perfect representation of AT&T's world view.
