  • do u really need a hammer to fit the magazine well? lol

  • Looks like it may be a tight mag or the mag catch may need a bit of relieving. It should fit with just hand pressure and shouldn't need a hammer.

  • Theres a saying in America, the Garand won the war, in Britain it's the bren gun won the war, I daresay in russian it's the Mosin nagant won the war, truth is it was a team effort. I think the main thing about Americans winning all on their own stems from media. There are just more films out there that feature americans (sometimes playing a diffrent nationality) than any other countris, and these get publicised in the west. Thats where i belive 'america won the war' comes from.

  • to all the 'x country won the war' people -n all the allied countries won it. If it wasn't for the british in the battle of britain the allies would have a hell of a lot more trouble with the leftwaffe, If the russians hadn't beat the Germans on the easter front. the allies would have lost the war. (imagine all those battle hardened ss units turning on europe) italy was a team effort. The Americans were the big party in normandy and beat Japan. No 1 country won ww2.

  • @Xiolablu3 fascinating but I don't care. You, like all the others are still missing the point. I'm no historian, I have no formal opinion on which country won the war, and I am in no position to make a decision on which gun did, either. What I am trying to get at, there was a saying among people that the M1 Garand was "The gun that won the war".

  • @4lligator The Russians won the war. 80% of German casualties were on the Eastern front. The garand didnt even come close to 'winning the war' It didnt even really get used in numbers until 1 year before the end of a 6 year war (D-Day June 1944 when the US finally got into WW2 in force after 5 years) I guess you could argue Italy 1943 if you want but even thats 4 years into WW2.

  • @4lligator That's a common saying in America atleast. I'm not trying to downplay the USA's role, but no gun won the war at all. People won the war. Without people carrying the gun, what use would it be? The Bren gun was a good gun, but that can't claim a title of war winning. If anything the closest gun that can claim that is the Lee Enfield SMLE as it served with distinction in both WW1 and WW2, and helped win some major battles in both wars.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS yeah, but the common saying was the M1 Garand was 'the gun that won the war'

  • @4lligator No gun won the war. And that is another way of saying "The USA won the war". If anything then the Mosin Nagant won the war, as it was the Russian standard infantry weapon. And the Russians bled the German army dry.

  • At least use a nylon hammer....

  • @slyrader1

Pretty sure that was the M1 Garand....

  • the gun that won the war
