Just purchased this Tascam DR-40 and testing it out. So far I'm pretty happy with it. I'm playing a Fender American Special Strat and a Roland Micro Cube amp.

  • Was going to buy one of these to record sound samples for use in ableton live, are they any good?

Yes, the Tascam DR-40 is a great recorder. Been happy with it so far. All my videos at this point have been recorded with it, the audio portion.

  • is it good with voice?

  • are you recording with the onboard microphones or a direct input? how far from the amp? how loud is the amp?

  • Good demonstration of the sound quality. Nice guitar work too !

  • is it appropriate for the long distance recording (5-7 meters) ?

  • Hello I just got a dr-40 and am just learning. Been doing some dubbing with guitar and mandolin. But when I play it on a computer you can't hardly hear it. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Would you know? Thanks
