I think he is perfectly fine writing by himself. So far, he's created a masterpiece of comedy.

Brilliant writer, but the IT Crowd would suggest that he works better when writing with others.

Cheers for putting this up. Also from my modest experience of writing comedy, Walliams is completly right, making yourself laugh alone while staring at computer for hours on end is a maddening experience. Fun though.
