This is Part 7/10 of a rare Schweinfurt Mission video involving the 8th Air Force during World War II. Visit www.91stbombgroup.com for more info.The date was October 14, 1943. American B-17's began their flight mission from England and dropped their bombs in Germany. In this segment, B-17s drop their bombs over the target, then battle ME 109s on their return back to England.

  • I currently live in Schweinfurt and cant imagine what it must have been like to be here then- to bad all those bombs missed their target

  • Inboard engine badly torn up at 1.02.

    Experienced German fighter pilots had a field day. Note the Bf 109 rolling at 2.44.
