Samurai Pizza Cats intro

Since I often see replies regarding who sings the song, it is NOT Fred Schneider of the B-52s. The singer is Pizza Cats writer Michael Airington who did an imitation of comedian Paul Lynde while drunk.

This was my introduction to anime as a child. I broke down laughing at the idea that in the original Japanese it was basically boring. Then I learned that the translators just decided to have a blast. Amazing things can come from just a little creativity with something preexisting.

From wikipedia: According to Andy Thomas, Airington had a few drinks before the recording session for the song started, and as a result, accidentally stuttered on one line ("this cat gets down down with a love hangover"). The mistake was left in the final version of the theme.
