i don't think brodhead deserved to be fired, i've met him and he seems to be a very nice man.
brodhead's job is on the line though, since under his presidency, duke has slipped from 4th to 10th in a matter of 5 years. this is unacceptable, and he better hope duke climbs back up the rankings next year. college rankings are full of bs, but they do have an effect on recruiting bright high schoolers.

Answer: Even though he publicly cheered from the sidelines as the lacrosse players were being railroaded, he actually violated no tenet of neo-Political Correctness. Like it or not, the truth is that since no minorities were hurt or injured in the railroading of the lacrosse players, Brodhead continues to this day to be president of Duke University.
