  • I have become more open to sharing our traditions over the past few years. If we don't start letting some of the "outside" in we are going to loose what little we have left. An occational demonstation is fine. The only reason everything became so protected in the first place was because of religious oppression. Our children need to learn what we are, our grandparents had it whipped out of them, and many of us don't know, so pass on all of the knowledge you can. Share for the future. Wado

  • I would only pay attention to the first few dancers. Not sure what the people on the outside are doing. We don't fight the fire unless we are in the first ring, we don't allow babies to be held while dancing, and most grounds don't allow shorts to be worn in the circle. Bad representation. If people want to learn about a real dance, then they should come to a real dance.

  • @knapper2000 what ground are you from? I'm from peachground

  • Some ceremonial grounds are going to become obsolete because the medicine men are dying out and no one to carry on. I know because I belong to a ceremonial ground that hasn't had any ceremonies in 2 years because of no medicine man. Sad, but I believe that is our future!

  • Most modern powwows are Puritanistic, meaning, men must wear something under their breech and/or panels to cover their flanks. I'm a native re-enactor, and what I wear in the arena is what I wear at re-enactments, which is a breech and leggins. However, even though I hate wearing trunks under my breech, I show respect and do so. Why is being traditional disrespectful? I'm not dancing naked.

  • if they are women and are in shorts they should not be in the sacred circle without a shawl. the children should be allowed to dance, not be carried. and there is no talking in the circle unless they are singing, it is disrespectful!

  • @jimhenry64 YUP SURE AM!!!! hahaha

  • @srdeere your a nig lover srdeere!

  • Wear a skirt, put up your hair, wear mocs or be barefoot. Stomp dances done on the ground which holds the blood and bones of our relatives.

  • These were Creeks, your right. Its at the Festival of Native Peoples held here. Lot of different teachings go on at different grounds so what works for you and is good in your heart is ok. Those of us who are Stompers know the rules. We know what we can and can't do. I see some Cherokee Nation people out there but I don't see any of us out there. So don't assume it is us and say its a bad representation that we caused. Sgi!

  • @lvste Thats very true, I agree with you, but its not peoples fAult who are half breed, i'm mexican and native, I know mexican is native and spaniard, but I am all Native to the heart....

  • i Just Think We Should Stick To Our Own Kind. Even Tho It May Seem Wrong Of Me To Say That, Its Still Right. I Mean, If A Ndn Girl Went With A White Boyy, Thats Like A Traitor Basically. Like PocoDAMNhantas. She Ain't Right. Haha. But Anyways.. Everything That I Have Learned, Comes From My Parents. I Listen To Them Bc I Know That They Were Raised Well By THEIR Parents...
