Froggy went a courtin' was one of my favorites as a kid too...except it was played by Doc Watson...excellent version but haven't been able to find it.

@usmcbrat2 That's funny. I felt the same way about the song, except that it was by Tex Ritter on a 78 RPM and I was 7 and it was in 1949. My favorite Burl Ives song about that time was the theme song he did for a movie with Wanda Hendrix and Audie Murphy called "Sierra." It also had James Arness and Tony Curtis is supporting roles.

We had this album at home when I was a kid. I recall lying on the floor in front of our stereo which was a HUGE wooden cabinet that held a radio and a turntable. I sang along while Dad napped on the chesterfield after supper. Good times. Great memories. Thanks!

Wow, that takes me back. When I was five years old in 1964 I couldn't get enough of this song, and I still love it to this day. I have always loved Burl Ives.
