Laser scanning allows rapid collection of millions of data points to give 3D real world models. The scanner we use is ideal for coastal erosion studies as it fits in a backpack and has excellent accuracy - 4mm at distances of up to 150m away.

The data can be visualised in 3D and because RTK GPS was used to position the scans, the survey can be repeated for annual monitoring.
