The Curious Savage by John Patrick (13 of 17)

The Curious Savage, written by John Patrick, is a warm-hearted comedic play about Ethel P. Savage, a woman whose husband recently died and left her 200 millions dollars. Her stepchildren feel she is spending the money foolishly and when they cannot get their hands on the money, commit her to a "sanatorium" named The Cloisters with the hope of "bringing her to her senses." The play sets up a contrast between the guests of The Cloisters and Mrs. Savage's stepchildren, leaving the audience to decide who truly needs to be brought to their senses.

Originally set in the 1950s, the Valley Center Stage production was updated to contemporary times.
