Think Twice Before Passing The Police

This occurred on I-295 N in West Deptford/Westville area around mile post 24. The New Jersey State Trooper was going 60 mph. The posted speed limit at the time was 50 mph due to it being a work zone even though the work was finished the signs were still posted.

When is passing a cop really ever a good idea?

you can pass a cop if you don't break the speed limit. i do all the time. they purposely drive under the speed limit and watch all the cars back up behind them, that are too pussy to pass. i zip by all them and the cop. i just watch my speed.

This is really stupid, he may be doing what 1mph over the limit? Can you even be ticketed for this? If you can it´s stupid. In sweden you can often do 10-15km/h over the limit without a problem.

It is never a good idea to pass a cop, it is just an excellent way of getting their attention. Even if they aren't going the speed limit, shit, who cares? You lose a couple minutes of your time, tops. Better than sitting on the side of the highway for 15+ minutes with an expensive ticket. Just saying. Play it safe, or you'll be sorry.

@TWutangT i agree. i've done this with cops doing the speed limit @ 100km/h and me doing 110. i've also followed cops doing 120 with a limit of 100 and they never stopped me, but if what yayoirc is true (according to the description) then they have a valid reason to do so. they weren't bothering the guy in front of them going more than the limit and this guy was doing more than 10mph above. assuming the same is true for you as here in canada, they usually dont bother you until you hit over 15km

Only a bad idea if your speeding, I have honked and flashed my high beams and went past cops that were doing around 30kph under the limit before, They stared at me but I could care less, If it was me doing that I would get a ticket...
