The Intrepid is still in limbo and going to cost way too much to fix. The engine may be fine or not. The steering is still screwed, the heater core and exhaust both leak and it needs a transmission mount. I'm going to leave this parked for while. In the meantime I have 1989 Plymouth Voyager with the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with about 126,000 miles on it. This needs some work, but not the kind of work the Intrepid needs. At this point, it's still Mopar and better than no car.

I'm going to be fixing a wheel bearing, the temperature sensor and the lift struts in a couple days. Sorry for the audio. My camera is not the greatest.

Update: The bolts holding the driveplate to the torque converter snapped and there is no way to get these fixed without tearing everything apart. This happened while I was driving along the highway, and I had to have it towed home. I'm looking at $1000 (got an estimate) to get this fixed and this is not worth it. I don't have the means to do this major a repair either. I guess the Intrepid's getting worked on after all. Oh well.

  • @grosteph58 All ideas are good, and I'm using it in reverse. The Intrepid is going to cost less than $350 while the van is going to cost me over $1000, all things considered. The engine on the Intrepid is fine (for a 2.7, for sure) and we still owe on it, (I was trying to get it paid off), so we can't scrap that anyway. Thanks for the comments & I'll do some videos on fixing that beast.

  • Sorry to hear that .

If you sell the Intrpid to the junk yard, you can not agree with the breaker, an exchange with the parts for the Plymouth Voyager? some of them accept.

    It's just an idea .

    thanks

  • @PVoyager Probably not happening. The bolts holding the driveplate to the crankshaft snapped yesterday and I don't have the money or equipment to tear this apart. I was really looking forward to doing this too.

  • @grosteph58 I agree, but the bolts holding the driveplate to the crankshaft snapped yesterday and I don't have the money or equipment to fix this myself.

  • make of vid of fixing the wheel bearing!

  • This van seems in good condition for its age, everything is clean, even the engine. No rust on the body ,its first owner was taking care of it.

For the bearing if you can, fix both on the same axle ,it's better, the other bearing let go, probably shortly after.

Good luck in fixing your van .
