@mikemacjunkie1 This actually IS the complete Overture as heard in the film. Buena Vista records reportedly combined it with the Intermission music for the Lp, although I think more likely Irwin Kostal simply recorded an extension for the Lp.

One little querk about this is, its incomplete. I own the original vinyl and UK issue Reel2Reel tape of this soundtrack, and the Overture is much longer on them. You can play them both together but the vinyls and r2r keep playing past when the CD finishes. I have no idea why the CD is cut short, but if you can locate the original, GET IT. ITS AMAZING. The way to tell is, the CD runs at 3:02 and the other version runs 3:53 or so. Beats me why Disney cut the CD version short. :-(

When I was five I would turn out all the lights in the house and listen to this, wondering what the movie was like. Given the gorgeous melodies I think it permanently affected my taste in music.

The very first theme in the overture is my favorite--Feed The Birds. I remember when I was a child seeing clips of this movie played on a local kid's show, Gene London, and I couldn't wait to see the movie. I even had the album first. Just loved this magical movie and music. I don't think there has ever been anything that compared to this. I actually cry every time I hear the music and see the youtube clips. Thanks for posting!
