On November 5, 2009, Covenant House celebrated the 19th Annual Candlelight Vigil for Homeless Youth, the organizations largest advocacy event of the year focused on celebrating the lives of our kids past and present across the Americas. While Covenant House shelters across the country are hosting vigils throughout the month, this vigil in Times Square drew hundreds of child advocates in prayer, song and hope around the ongoing issue of youth homelessness, human trafficking and child welfare reform.
Participants came to rally on behalf of the 1.5 million kids Covenant House has served over the past 37 years, the 70,000 Covenant House served this year alone and the many more living on the streets or who will find themselves homeless in the year to come. Read more about this event:
