Climbing over the mountain is an activity that not a lot of people might enjoy. In fact, some people are very reluctant, preferring a vacation that allows them to sit or lie down and relax. What mountain climbers will tell you, however, is that mountain climbing offers a very different kind of bliss not found anywhere else. Unless you've done it yourself, it's pretty hard to understand what makes this activity so desirable.

For those who are considering making their first hill climb, here are the top things to look forward to.

The Exercise
Most people don't really see exercise as something to look forward to. Science, however, shows that workouts actually help with the release of endorphins. This is the hormone responsible for making a person feel good. At the same time, the climb can also lower cortisol levels in the body. This is the hormone responsible for feelings of sadness and depression. At the very least, you can be sure that the resulting workout in the mountains will help lose weight -- a fact which should appeal to many people.

The Sights
The sights are definitely something to look forward to, regardless of whether you're tackling a local hilly or the Tatra mountains. A trek can include various aspects of nature such as trees, grass, shrubs, animals, rivers, ponds, and various others.

The Smell
Believe it or not, the smells of the mountain are among the most distinguishable aspects of climbing. Wait until you get to the peak and take one huge gulp of air. You can tell straight away that the air is very different from that found in the city. It makes you feel as though your lungs have cleared and that your mind is completely at peace.

The Sunset/Sunrise
If you're lucky enough to stay overnight atop the mountain high then be sure to look out for the sunrise and sunset. The rise and fall of the sun from a high vantage point is always something worth seeing. Try to pack a camera if you can and make sure to capture this moment that not a lot of people have the privilege of seeing other than in pictures.

Peace of Mind
What many climbers will tell you is that climbing is a very meditative task. It requires concentration, thus allowing individuals to stay in the moment and simply stop thinking about the past and future. Think of it as a way to mentally detoxify so that when you finally reach the top, you feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Climbing mountains is an excellent emotional booster and perfect for individuals who feel as though they're burned out due to work.

Things to Remember
When trying to climb a mountain -- or going anywhere remote for that matter -- it's important to first check the climate in the area. You want to go somewhere with weather ideal for climbing and staying overnight. For novice climbers, it's best to take on smaller obstacles first, perhaps get used to hiking before attempting to take on higher altitudes. Try renting climbing gear first in order to find out if the activity appeals to you. If it provides you with the same nirvana, then you can buy the necessary items and go climbing at least once every few months.
