  • I am just getting familar with this whole veggie fuel idea. I am very interested to know were you are pumping your oil into? and what system did you use initially to get started.

  • @crownll66866 I got three 40 gallon barrels in the back of the van. Two are for collecting oil and the third is for after it's been filtered. Basically, I'm always ahead by one barrel.

  • Nice video. I really like the filter set up. I take it you don't let the oil settle for a few days/weeks and drain off the bottom water layer since you have a water filter? And what types of restaurants do you find have the best/cleanest oil? Thanks ahead of time!

  • Thanks! I'm careful with the oil I get and that it will have minimum water. The water block filter does quite a good job too. Check around for good oriental restaurants that are more high end as they change their oil more frequently due to the flavor. You can always taste chinese food that uses old oil. Be very wary also of chicken places as chicken can hold alot of water. Hope this helps!

  • That can't be good for your vehicle in the long run.. Can it? Has anyone reading this, tried this? Is there a drain in horse power? Do the vehicles break down quickly using this method?

  • do some research on the net. Veg oil is better then diesel and cleans out the gunk and lubricates. The engine runs quieter too. I have over 25000 km on my engine with veg. Look up Rudolph Diesel. Ran the first diesel on peanut oil. There are many people doing this if you ask around. Just got to make sure the oil is properly heated.

  • diesel is now £1.30/litre in the uk which is about $2.60 so if there was a good time to do this it would be now

  • it will as long as you have a diesel and be sure to have the oil heated someway. I now have heaters on my fuel injectors installed to heat the oil before first starting up and 2 heaters (one electric for below 8 degrees celsius and one is rad coolant based) on my fuel line. The van came with a heated fuel filter as stock. Also, good glow plugs that ALL work properly. Don't skimp on parts/labour. You'll make it up in fuel saved quite fast. Costs vary depending on manufacturer/vehicle.

  • will it work on my vw vanagon ,if i get a diesel engine from a rabbit? total cost for parts, doing it myself? ......

  • Depends on the oil and if you are meticulous with letting it either settle or even using a simple strainer to get bigger pieces out. I use a fuel funnel with a screen mesh filter to transfer my oil to barrels. The filters are on average about $6-7 each but the water block is $15. You'll also find that the first filter is replaced the most.
