Hey Movie fans-I'm Joslyn for ClevverTV in our Beverly Hills studios bringing you latest dish on Johnny Depp's upcoming film "Alice in Wonderland."
Disney recently unleashed a montage of clips from movie to a very limited number of viewers AND we're told that reactions to Depps characterization of the Mad Hatter drew audible gasps from the small crowd. Depp is probably used to the attention and the gasps, but this time the shreaks may have been a bit different. "Alice in Wonderland" is being headed-up by Tim Burton who most film-lovers appreciate for his previous work with Depp in films like "Edward Scissorhands" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Both films depict Depps in roles that are creepy and likeable at the same time.
The description of Depp as the Mad Hatter depicts him wearing a Victorian top hat, crimped hair that sticks straight out, and a swirl of brightly colored make-up on his eyes, cheeks and lips that resemble the blur of a pinwheel blowing in the breeze. It sounds strange and a bit disturbing, but we can bet that Depp will probably remain one of the hottest men on the planet even if he is covered in crazy makeup. Disney plans to release a promo photo of the star in their new quarterly magazine "23."
Also starring in the film are Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen and academy award nominee Anne Hathaway. 19-year-old Mia Wasikowska will play Alice. Drama queen Linsay Lohan was supposed to be in the cast, but she was dropped from the film.
"Alice In Wonderland" is currently in post production and is slated for a March 2010 release. Like the well-known cartoon version, the film will follow the adventures of Alice, who falls into a magical world of strange characters and darkness behind every corner.
Not many details beyond the brief plot outline are available as of yet, but with a director like Tim Burton, it's sure to be unique and definietely worth going to the theaters for.
