@SJGP123 The gastroesophageal reflux disease/ heartburn that is associated with Sandifer's reflex has also been linked with asthma and hoarseness. Apparently, the reflux of stomach acid can ascend to the throat and irritate the throat and bronchia. I asked because I've met adults and children with the same combo, especially when their reflux flairs. OTC prilosec seems to help with all three problems. Not sure how old a child must be to use prilosec though. Asthma can be independent too.

Was the child being fed too much? Has your child developed any asthma symptoms or hoarseness later on? Thanks for the example, however. The pulling of the neck to the left and back arching is classic. I hope she is doing better than when the video was taken. Seems to be in pain.

@SJGP123 I just uploaded the back arching he's been doing.. he's always done it but I thought it was him just being fussy, but the day I took the video he had been doing it constantly and it really scared me! We ended up taking him to the ER right after (I had taken the video to show the doc in case he stopped doing it). We go back to the Neurologist on Tuesday so I'll mention it. He's already had a normal MRI, and EEG, so we were just waiting out the head drops, but this was new-ish.

Thank you for sharing. I'm a med student and could never imagine how Sandifer's epidodes look like. I feel sorry for your beautiful girl.
Thank you so much for posting this. We've been concerned my son has been having seizures and has been to the neurologist for head drops. He started these episodes that look almost exactly like your daughter's and after being started on an anti-epileptic, he finally did it for his pediatrician and she suspects Sandifer's. This has been going on for months and am finally happy to see something that looks like what he is going through. I'm glad to see she's doing much better!

@jenzzx2 Maddie is now 20 months and is Reflux free. I would talk with your pediatrician and neuro before taking your child off the meds. Maddie's "head nods" were/are much more subttle than what I see in your son's video. Maddie has other issues she is working through (an eye disease) but NO seizures after 3 tests. good luck. Your kids are very cute!
