  • your not aloud to keep them as pets. and the Latin name is just natrix natrix

  • @snakes1000000 It's 100% legal to keep them, the British subspecies (which these are) is Natrix natrix helvetica. There are several subspecies across their native range.

  • @Speeplecom Its legal for a short amount of time like a week. Or if your keeping an injured 1 till its recovered. But your not alloud to keep them as pets or move them somewhere else from where U found it. Looked Up the sub species your right about that

    

  • @snakes1000000 That doesn't really make sense keeping them for a week, exposing them to potential pathogens and then releasing them to mingle back in with the wild population - this could have devastating consequences. It's perfectly legal to keep our native grass snake, see the "Wildlife and Countryside Act".
