In 2007, the Santa Ana Police Department began a community oriented policing project that eventually became known as the Townsend Raitt Task Force. Under the direction of the Police Department, the Task Force grew to include representatives of over 30 public, private, non-profit, education and faith-based organizations, property owners and residents who come together on a regular basis to develop strategies to improve the quality of life in the Townsend-Raitt neighborhood in Santa Ana. This program consists of a brief history and interviews of some of the Task Force members to show that the project could not have been done individually by any one entity but needed the synergy of the group to be successful.
