@ManhattanMusician Don't hear it myself but I hear songs all the time that I can trace back to another song, real or imagined. I'm sure a lot of hit songs have been written by starting with another song and a bit of modification. As Burton Cummings sings in one of his songs, "For I.... Will play a rhapsody
Cleverly disguise it, so it's not been heard before"!
Don't know why there was a rumour back then that these guys were a reincarnation of the Beatles. Sounds like them in a melodic way, but the songs are lower quality. ... so, how come the confusion????
It takes me back to the summer of 1980 when I worked (for free) in college radio at Penn State. I still have the duplicate album that came into the station. At the time, I marked the albums as they came in. I miss the exposure I had to so much different music.
No problem.

Lower quality?

Well, "Everything I own" is in a different key than this song, so it's hard to catch it if you listen to both
songs.....right after the other.

I love it too, but some parts of the melody are a direct rip off of Bread's "Everything I Own".
Give it a listen and you'll hear what I'm talking about.

Some songs/groups just 'have it' or 'get it'. This is one. Love this ballad.
