  • She's not off key, she's just bending her notes (also known as blue notes)and singing a lot of minor, augmented, and diminished intervals in the scale (not typical western scale). similar to what you hear in jazz. This actually shows that she has an amazing ear because most singers cannot do this! Jazz instrumentalists (ex. John Coltrane) play outside the scale all the time, just rare to hear the human voice imitate. So to the normal ear, this sounds off. Love u Amel!!

  • i think she sounds fantastic.... i dont think being a great singer is always about being on key, sometimes its just the emotion thats put into it... its art, i mean who wants to color inside the lines ALL the time??

  • @schanfr now you my dear know REAL music! Thank you for clarifying!

  • @schanfr Well put:)

  • i was at this show with me ex fiance.... this was a great show/night.... damn i miss her #ahhhmemories

  • I understand the 'earthiness' of sister but does she have to look like a bag lady on stage? There are so many ways to be modest and quite stylish. She still gets a thumbs up from me, make no mistake about it.

  • I WOULD LOOOOOOOOVE to experience her live!!! i love amel... she is magic.

  • @schanfr Very true. Just listen to how she goes on key and off key at will. That is mind boggling to that with an instrument (ex miles davis and john coltrane on the trumpet) . But to have the ability to do that with the voice is.....unreal.

  • @ThaPoetess major ditto!!!

  • @gyrl1da16 I understand that. We have different definitions of liberties,.which is ok.

  • @Feesharp9er Amel is a creator, not a person who you will see get up there and perform the exact same show a million times. In order to do that, she takes certain liberties with her melodies and notes, like @schanfir said, its something they do very often in Jazz. I suppose its an acquired taste, but I love it. I get a different show everytime I see her.

  • @schanfr not really.,.please read omegapdx's comment ,.
