i wouldn't recommend auto focus while filming, it takes too long and blurs the image while trying to find the focus point. I use manual all the time. Takes some time to get used to, but you get the hang of it.

Agreed. but..... there is a but.... Auto focus is SHIT !
manual gives u a better feel aswell and lets u balance the camera. Tripods are the best for balance yes.

The AF is working while recording, but it's slower than in photo-taking-mode.
By the way, the 18-55mm 1:3,5-5,6 lens is a piece of crap ;)
