Shots from our investigation at the abandoned Kalamazoo Insane Asylum, which housed patients from 1913-1969. It has remained unused since 1990.

  • it was originally used as a TB hospital, until the Kalamazoo State Hospital got overcrowded, then patients were moved into this facility. And yes we were aware of not only the TB, but the presence of asbestos and lead.

  • Thats why we limited our investigation to the 2nd 3rd and 4th floors that were more than adequately ventiliated due to the lack of windows. The only risky area to enter would be the 1st floor which has been completely bricked in, and obviously the basement. And due to these risks, we avoided those floors and limited our investigation length.

  • @Segrian It was off North St. behind the Maple Hill Cemetary, it's torn down now

  • Great place. Went inside during my college years. The basement is outrageous. There was a huge room downstairs where someone had pushed all the junk to the outer edges and pulled an old metal dentists chair to the center. The rest of the place was pretty tame, but that room oozed terror.

  • I live around here, but I cant seem to find the actual building/address. Please help?

  • why did someone pee on the wall?

  • Are people still creeping into this place? Is there any security or risk to get caught?

  • Hello! I am going to be doing an expedition here and would like to know how you guys got in. Maybe we could even do an interview. We are also a paranormal team. Wanna help us get in? If you don't believe me just watch my videos. Thanks, Cruce

  • @clmbeverest The one from 1913 was a little further down Prairie towards Alamo and has been torn down for many years. It now a green space called Fairmont park.

  • (meanshawny)...There was a sign back in the late 80's or early 90's on Douglas at Blakeslee that read: Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospitol North Campus with an arrow pointing west up Blakeslee hill. So at one point it was used for Psychiatric Patients. I grew up and lived 4 blocks from this hospitol and could see it from my backyard on Arlington near Commonwealth.

  • @meanshawny yeah the one that is in service
