I rode 350 from Ann Arbor to Detroit on February 13, 2009. This is some footage between Dearborn and Detroit. At the beginning of the video, you may notice a bridge with no track. Some time during 2010, a connection track will be re-laid there to cut time between DER and DET in half. As you can see, right now the trains have to slow to around 10 mph to go around the sharp S-curve.

As we were passing through West Detroit junction, I noticed a Canadian National engine hauling Triple Crowns. The two trains kept pace with each other until Amtrak switched over from Conrail to Canadian National trackage. I stopped taping just before the station.

  • No shots of wayne or dearborn?

  • No, I didn't get any other shots in Wayne or Dearborn. It's something to think about for next time though.

  • There is absolutely no - NO reason to visit Detroit, unless you plan on hanging yourself. Travel by car if you want to experience a stunning kick in your spiritual junk - It is just as depressing from an automobile. It's like a shit sandwich with no bread or mustard.

  • @coolwater1

If you want to have no money by the time you reach your destination, Fly an airliner who is almost at the point to charge the customer for wearing clothes on the plane.

  • im gonna be takin my trip soon to the D

  • I notice one of the railroad bridges have no tracks. That was a track that once connected to the "Cheaspeake and Ohio" railroad which is now known as CSX railroad! The train must be running slow because it was passing through the West Detroit train yard. The big open field used to be a General Motors Plant known as "Cadillac Clark Street Assembly" built approx. 1920 and demolished in 1995! That rail line was once the New York Central System and Penn Central!

  • If you want a pleasant traveling experience, drive or fly. if you want to become depressed and feel like you come from a war torn impoverished 3rd world nation, travel amtrak. (im just j/k)

  • slow train is slooooooooooooooooooow!

  • Nice video!

  • Yea ,also u should get willow run too.
