@TheMetalDreadHead It's a puffball mushroom ,they have no cap .eventually a pore forms somewhere on top of the ball and the spores form inside the body of the mushroom and when bumped into the spores are released through the pore.also the're edible before they've gone to spore while the flesh is still white.

The inside is black only when they start to dry out. They go off color on the outside. As long as it's pure white like that,you're good to go. Yellow on the base,leave it be,according to what the old timers taught me. Great breaded & fried with fresh caught fish.

A Giant Puff Ball mushroom. They are edible when they are young. It is full of countless billions of spores of spores. Very cool!
