This is part one of my thirty nine part run of the Game: Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on the Nintendo Gamecube. I am a big fan of the Metal Gear Series, it's probably my third favorite, behind Mario and Zelda. This is a remake of the original Playstation game: Metal Gear Solid, and was directed by Hideo Kojima. There are many changes that occurred during the creating of this game. In terms of Gameplay, you can do everything you could do in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, except Naked Cartwheels. First Person Aiming was also added which makes dealing with enemies a lot easier, but they also made bodies stay after their death, and a caution mode. This was prior to the release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, so all the CQC is not here yet. This was also obviously prior to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Which is a bit overrated in my opinion), so no ducking run, no adjustable camera, and no customizable weapons. I'll be commenting on characters as they pop up, but I have to overall say that most of the voice changes worked well, and in all the flashbacks to the original game, all the audio was from this game, despite the video being from the Playstation version.
0:04 - Silicon Knights and Nintendo helped recreate all the areas in this game along with Konami, in fact, I heard Shigeru Miyamoto was the one who suggested to Hideo Kojima to remake the game for the gamecube
0:26 - This scene did go a bit slow, but it does add a larger feeling of epicness than the original game did.
1:17 - Paul Eiding doesn't do as good of a job here as he did before, but he does sound better in certain scenes.
1:44 - I thought Jennifer Hale did a better job than Carren Learning, while replaying the original Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation recently, I couldn't stop laughing at how stupid her accent sounded. Besides, the accent doesn't make sense since she later revealed that she was raised by Americans. I also thought her acting was much better, Kojima also seems to agree with me, because she reprized her role in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
1:52 - I though David Hayter actually did BETTER in this game than in the original, he seemed too relaxed and had little emotion in his voice in the original, I mean don't get me wrong his acting was great, but it didn't feel real, here, there is much more emotion to his work.
4:25 - Just to tell you, they don't give you the extra VR mission that were in the re release, all you really get is the main game sadly, which lowers the price appeal.
4:31 - Yes I am playing it on the hardest difficulty, but I kept the radar at that mode for convenience.
4:44 - Okay, this scene was drawn out, WAY TOO MUCH, I liked that you could hear Liquid clearer, but otherwise, just too damn long, they could have cut out a lot of this.
5:36 - I thought Cam Clarke did good for the most part, his accent fits since he was raised
6:35 - They eliminated the static that came with the codec before, which makes sense, they're transmitting directly into your ear and burst transmission is being used.
9:24 - I don't really think the song they used here fits, the old one worked better in my opinion.
10:28 - The Camera Work here is a bit much.

Actually, this game from the beginning was meant for the Gamecube, as the game was pitched by Shigeru Miyamoto towards Hideo Kojima.

  • People who played twin snakes will never experience the orginal MGS1 like i did.

  • @HeavenXxX The codec calls maybe the same, but the actually graphics in game are NOWHERE near what they were on the ps1, the graphics were terrible, compared to this game when it came out. Of course, some people always prefer originals, and I'm not bashing the ps1 version at all. But these graphics, and some of the voice over is a bit better than the original.
