I got my self an 87 2.9. Muffler rotted right off, cat is still good though. Figuring on just putting a piece of pipe after the cat. It surprisingly is not that loud.

mine did the same i got a tile pipe from napa for 18$ and just put in a pipe wre the muffler went and away i went !! the damm thing is indestructible lol

2.9Ls from 89 back do not blow head gaskets, they crack heads.

i got a 90 ranger with a 2.9 and it sounds awesome after i took off the muffler. kinda ricey but its loud. cool vid

i got a buddy whose ranger 2.9L has 320,000 miles and he drives and hauls with it everyday, he sold the newer ranger he bought because the one he has now just won't quit

Can you put side pipes without running mufflers on a V4 ranger. Will the engine be ok with side pipes without mufflers. I want to ratrod mine out. My stepdad got it for me for 225.00 the drivers side front finder and inner finder well is going to need to be completely pulled out cause it has been in a wreck so I figured once I got it home it would be the perfect truck to make a ratrod.

Got pretty much the same truck, i pretty much have strait piped, since the exhaust rotted through. but when spring arrives it will be gettin stacks for sure! hope it sounds good with stacks.
