Years ago when I first saw "The Five Doctors", I remember that the story opened with Peter Davison's doctor dusting off the new console which first appeared in this story. However, this opening is missing from the DVD version.

@ cyberjef28. I used an Amiga running DPaint - along with a genlock and a Panasonic mixing desk.

I remember dreaming of something like After Effects... now a reality, how far we've come.

@shakeyphil. Even simpler than that! A Panasonic NVL25 VHS recorder connected via a sync-edit lead to a Panasonic M10 VHS Camcorder. A tiny step up from crash editing -but only just!

How on earth did you drop a TARDIS on Sarah back in 1992? surely not the rather primitive PCs of the day?

The original TARDIS fall was made using a Commodore Amiga, alongside a video digitizer (to capture the TARDIS image), 'Dpaint' software (to animate the fall) and finally a 'MiniGen' genlock to superimpose it back onto the video.
