Bull kelp starts growing on December 21, the longest night of the year, and by summer can be as long as 125 feet, or equivalent to the height of a three-story building. The seaweed lady talks about the fastest growing plant on the planet.

  • Nice!

  • I use seaweed on my garden each Fall. As a matter of fact I'm heading down to my beach right now to collect some. It has lots of micronutrients in it that my plants love.

  • Cool. I'm not near a beach, but I wish I were!

  • I live in the Southern Gulf Islands only 900'ft from the ocean. Our beaches are loaded with seaweed and now so is my garden, lol

  • Can I find bull kelp in Vancouver, Horseshoe Bay or Tswassen, or do I have to get over to the Island to find some?

  • YAY!
