Trident Seafoods, the largest processing plant in North America, is located in Akutan on a volcanic Aleutian Island 1,700 miles north of Seattle and 35 miles from Unalaska/Dutch Harbor. The plant processes pollock, crab, halibut, surimi and other species harvested from the Bering Sea. All of these videos and most of the photographs were taken in June 2008.

The weights are never dead on. We've had deliveries there where we were 30,000 lbs. shy of what we KNOW was in our holds. And when we ask questions everyone at the plant just shrugs their shoulders and plays dumb. Overall friendliness and service at that plant are way below par as well. The food in the galley is terrible, I had to stop eating there because I kept getting sick every time I went up there, and when we got stuck in port because of weather we had to tie next to the fish meal plant!
