John McDougall MD learned the answer to this question a long time ago, back in the 70's.

This is a short excerpt from the documentary PROCESSED PEOPLE which is available on DVD at http://www.processedpeople.com/order.htm

  • these meat eating people will never understand drawbacks until the symptoms start appearing after the age of 40

  • The best diet is the rawfood diet.

Ninety percent fruits and ten percent tender green leafy vegetables is ideal.

  • vegetarian diets make your testosterone low, as a guy thats unacceptable sorry

  • @Typhoonbladefist My post meant to say when they took OUT the meat and dairy and oils they got better as long as they were eating plenty of calories from whole plant foods ( mainly starches for the calories-rice,potatoes,corn,millet,quinoa,etc. Raw fish or grass fed animals is still putting too much fat in the diet. All of the longest-lived healthiest populations ever studied ate high carb-low fat plant based diets and meat was always a very small percentage 2% or less. Read the book.

  • @82Bdog wait a damn second, I never said meat and dairy were bad, the way they are processed today isn't all that great and requires rigid sterilization. I prefer raw milk and raw fish as well as cows that aren't raised in a fucking factory that require tons of antibiotics just so the meat can legally be sold without killing people through salmonilla poisoning. All carbs are not created equal, when doctors say high carb diet they don't mean scarf down sugar. Go listen to Dr. Lustig.

  • @Typhoonbladefist Wrong! The only diet proven in studies to reverse heart disease is a diet like this man (dr.mcdougall) is talking about.-A high carb low fat plant based diet free of meat and oils. Read dr.esselstyn's book prevent and reverse heart disease. Yes when people take the meat and dairy and added oils to their diet they get much better as long as they are eating plenty of calories from whole plant foods

Historically, cancer has not been high among the Inuit Greenlanders. When Western influence came to Greenland (via the Danish), alcoholism became the new epidermic along with a whole host of problems from cancer to diabetes. This can be attributed to the importation of beer and processed foods. Life in the arctic is a pretty hardscrabble existence and the life expectancy of 68.3 years can't conclusively be drawn to diet.

  • @elementz1986 Inuit Greenlanders, who historically have had limited access to fruits and vegetables, have the worst longevity statistics in North America. Research from the past and present shows that they die on the average about 10 years younger and have a higher rate of cancer than the overall Canadian population. It's not just the sugar, my comment.

  • @elementz1986

I should emphasize that I am speaking of refined sugars.

  • They didn't get fat because they started eating meat, they got fat because they started eating sugary, processed junk food and leading more sedentary lives. The (traditional) Inuit people have a largely meat centered diet and they are also free of these illnesses associated with modern food. Sugar is more of a culprit than meat.
