After preparing for, and having completed this activity students should develop a good overview of some basic physiology of exercise. Some key questions that students should be able to answer include:

Define stroke volume, heart rate and cardiac output. Explain how they interrelate.
Compare and contrast the roles of haemoglobin and myoglobin.
Define tidal volume, respiratory rate and ventilation. Explain how they interrelate.
What is our preferred food fuel and why?
What is glycogen sparing?
What processes occur within the mitochondria?
What are the limitations of the Anaerobic Energy Systems?
What are some chronic adaptations that occur as a result of aerobic training?
List and outline the mechanisms of fatigue.
