What do you make of Anda Penman's disclosure in 2001, shortly before her death, that it was her ancestor, Donald Stewart of Appin, who had killed the red fox?

@RACHELTAYLOR7 I have often wondered about this song, I had imagained an assassination attempt against the fox, im one of the few scots who wanted to be a red coat lol thanks for the info on my favourite band

This is about the assassination of Colin Campbell of Glen Ure.Nobody knows who killed him to this day but James Stewart -James of the glen was blamed and hanged for his murder.James's body was placed inside a cage and left to hang near the bridge at Ballachulish.It was gaurded by soldiers to prevent anyone from cutting down his body.Colin Campbell is buried at Ardchattan Priory.
