A guy tried the "You broke my glasses" con on me once.
For more about con artists see my video:

That's a good video!
Back where I come from, the scam artists are mostly Eastern European travellers who come for the summer season. They are pretty camera shy, and will usually bark a bit, but then leave, when they see a camera.

ive learned tons of these street cons, tricks, numbers cons, and other things like lockpicking. i would not make a life out of it, afterall its not good mney in most cases. instead i just use it to impress friends or get the job done stuff like that

@McConsumer what is it ?

or you can be really good at shuffling and not need extra people working for you. then when someone wins, it's just dumb luck and your winnings will offset the loss

The only time the mexican turnover would be used is if the operator (the guy throwing the cards) was working alone. He would rarely use this move however because its is pretty risky (though you can pull it off when needed) He would probably rely more on moves such as the double hype (showing 2 losing cards so the mark thinks they found the right card) However you will rarely see an operator working alone. If you ever do odds are its someone who learned how the game work and wanted to try it out

you do the mexican turnover with bent cards?
for 20 bucks mate im pretty sure they would just let him win 1
ive seen hustlers make hundreds off of marks

Speaking as a magician, I can tell you that a true hustler on the streets would never use the move called mexican turnover. It's a bold and very risky move (and would only be used as a last resort, if you where to work without any shills).
A regular hustler would never allow for any of his marks to touch his cards, but only let them point. If the mark by chance should point to the right card, a shill would enter and make a higher bet on a wrong card. Also known as "highest bet only"

Excellent video.
I love learning about stuff like this.
Most people I know are so naive.

...Aside from that, the conman did the throwing technique every single time a victim played, that was more than enough in all cases.
I also want to add that most of the time there was only one other person working with the conman, maybe two. And it seemed to me that the scam is really rampant in 3rd world countries. I saw 3 different monte games within the same day in Argentina, I've only seen one game in Mexico but they used an entirely different aproach, based on distraction and intimidation

I just stumbled upon this video and I just had to comment about it. You are giving a lot of misinformation while pretending to know what you are talking about. First of all the game is called Monte, and the switch is actually made before the victim choses a card. A mexican turnover is just used as a last resort and only if the victim seems weak beacuse it's pretty risky. Most of the time the victim is allowed to turn the card he choses. It seems that you just found some old article on the web

My background came from "Three-card Monte" on Wikipedia. You can add Monte as one of the names, though I think I'm safe using their title.
That page describes the throw technique which I assume you're referring to. I left it out because my recollection of the hand I saw used the turnover, and because I can't avoid cutting relevant information in a short piece. It'd probably be better if I'd included it. Though experts always get mad when they see their subject trimmed for length.
