Second Life Bots Footage: The 'Crowded Silence' is a 3D animation documentary, where Johan Glenville was interviewed by Lilly Figgis, talking about his Arts and Projects, and discuss the possibility of use of bots for non commercial purpose, for instance, Arts in Second Life.

*** Sorry for the spelling (Crowed)! ***

As machinimakers we have no involvement with Mr Glenville's Projects, his SIM, the Bots, Bots Creators, and Bots Hunters!

The documentary does not pretend to be ultimate in this matter, nor to lead to a final conclusion, but rather proposes to break the indiscutibility of the subject. Despite of the conclusion it may lead you to take, feel free to add your comment, suggestion or opinion.

  • they are all bots, and this old man an stupid, imagine sl only with bots and no more people, how to make money? then sl is dead. watching i am start to believe in it.

  • Yes, they are all Bots, except Lilly Figgis, who captured the images, and talked to Johan Glenville, who you call 'stupid'.

Your comment sounds like a 'Virtual Apocalypse', where the machinnes dominates the mankind, but it is very unlike to happen in sl. This week, Jack Linden provided further clarification on Bots - read it at the SL Blogs.

  • sorry i guess u didnt understand me, of course if you have bots u need their owner to control them. But now the camp will desappear because of them, i am a regular avatar in sl, and i use a lot of camp to make my money, to buy my dresses, to rent my home. SL is very similar to RL, in aspect of economy, RL we also have people that clean the floor, that paint walls, we need them to make the money circulate too. Both lifes can't live only with artists, designers, stores owners.

  • No, the camps will NOT disapper!

You may continue to camp as usual. I do recommend you the read the Jack Linden last post on Bots -- you can find the link to it on this video descripton.

Regulars campers, like yourself, won't be affected by the Linden Lab's resolutions on Bots.

  • (continue) A lot of people there are not special gifts. What i really dont understand is, if is so easy identify them with the Debig Setting / Avatar CompositeLimit / -5, why is so hard change the software to read the traffic without the non graphicals bodies. And then you have only the count of real avatars. I mean regular people are prejudicate because the bots.

  • That's what Linden Lab is currenctly working on.

Accordly to Jack Linden, 'the policy statement is that where we see a Resident unfairly increasing their Search ranking, regardless of how that is achieved, it will be considered as 'gaming'. We will give a first warning to begin with and direct people to the policy. However continued gaming can result in suspension or removal from Search listings altogether.'

    I hope it helps!

  • i found a box high in the sky with a bunch of bots once. and so i proceded to rez my car in the next parcel, tell it to fly and flew into the box and then drove it around knocking all the avatars out causing it to rain bots on the land below, it was awesome i even got banned form the sim for it, i laughed

  • I'll never forget the first time I saw a guy with a bunch of bots following him around in Second Life as in this video... I thought it was one of the freakiest things I'd ever seen, at least in SL. The number of bots he had under his control wasn't anywhere near this number, though. Great video, and a great choice in the music to accompany it.

  • LOL =)

  • I need your email, i dont agree, because if the island want keep the camp, they cant be on seach. If most of people consider search as part of business (that bring people to buy their things, rent stores, whatever), they will give up camps to continue on search. So it affects me also.
