Its not like the lions will stay hungry for days. The lizard wouldn't have been a great meal anyway. It more looked like the lions saw him as a new toy that awakened their curiousity.
The honey badger though has just the nature of killing anything it confronts, even if it is not hungry, because honey badgers are just badass and the know it. Thus the comparison is actually quite nonsense. Different animals, different reasons, different thinking, different instincts.

You have to remember, the monitor tried to invade the home of the honey badger, attempting to eat eggs (i'm guessing). I'm pretty sure that if the monitor had approached the lion's cub, the lion would have attacked.

I think if a Lion wanted to it would kill a honeybadger with ease yeah the honey badger is fearless but the lion is bigger stronger and I'm sure it would get bit a few times but I think it would destroy the honey badger
